5. Peninsula de Formentor
This fantastic peninsula at the north east tip of the island is the backdrop to one of the oldest and most famous hotels on the island, Hotel Formentor, having played host to Charlie Chaplin, F Scott Fitzgerald and the newly married couple, Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco.
6. Jardins d’Alfabia
These lush gardens are the finest on Mallorca and date back to the time of the Moors, offering some of the best bird watching on the island.
7. Cabrera Island
A short boat trip from Colonia St Jordi will take you to this bird lovers paradise and fourteenth century island for an interesting day trip.

14. Wine-tasting
With an abundance of superb local bodegas, including Macia Batle, Jose Ferrar and Pere Seda, it’s well worth a trip, just remember to book a taxi!
15. San Salvador Monastery
Within easy driving distance of Felanitx, and the last of Mallorca’s monasteries to lose its monks in the early 1990’s. It has one of the most scenic view points in the area.
16. Gordiola Glassworks
Mallorca has a long history and reputation for glassware and this factory outlet is the place to buy it, 20 km east of Palma on C715.
17. Caves of Drac
These are the finest of numerous cave systems on eastern Mallorca with amazingly shaped stalactites and stalagmites and one of the world’s largest subterranean lakes.
18. Lluc
This town is home to the most venerated icon in the Balearics, La Moreneta and houses a large museum in a rambling monastery and is a great base for mountain hikes or bike rides.
19. Festival Park
A shopping and leisure centre just off the Palma to Inca motorway at Marratxi which comprises factory outlets, designer shops, a craft market, restaurants and bars, and a 20-screen multiplex cinema that shows English films.
